Year 4 - Who we are
.In this unit, students in Year 4 inquired into some aspects that are inter-connected to well-being, especially physical and social well-being.
Central Idea
Personal well-being requires a balance of interconnected factors.
Lines of Inquiry
Year 4 explored two aspects of well-being; the social and physical aspects of well-being that are connected to healthy lifestyles. To gain more understanding about physical well-being - healthy lifestyles, Year 4 students played "Unhealthy Food Tag". The concept that was taught through the game was that people should have a balanced lifestyle. The food that we eat (nutrition), exercise and contribute to this balance . Below is the video showing students play "Unhealthy Food Tag".

Students also did a heart beat investigation. When we need more energy, such as when we are running, the heart beats faster to pump more oxygen around the body. When your heart beats it sends a wave of pressure through all of your veins in your body. They felt this pressure in some areas of the body. Students tried to count the heart beats (pulse) before (rest HR) and after (active HR) playing the game. Below is the sample of the student's investigation on heart beats.
